72 Hours in Kelowna – Spring Edition
March 15, 2021
Welcome to Kelowna – it’s a beautiful spot to visit any time of year! I’ll tell you why Spring is one of the best times to visit. It is a four season playground right now – you can enjoy golfing, snowboarding, hiking, and biking all in the same day. The grass is getting green and leaves are budding, but you can still head up the mountain to enjoy some fresh spring mountain air and snow. Temperatures during the day are above +10C in March. By the end of May we typically get well into the +20’s.
Snowboarding, golfing, wine tasting, hiking. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
FRIDAY – WELCOME TO KELOWNA!
Check in to the Delta Grand which offers a prime downtown location on Lake Okanagan. This hotel offers deluxe amenities including lake-front patio restaurant and spa. From here you can easily walk downtown to enjoy some shopping. If shopping isn’t your thing – head to the brewery district to sample some of Kelowna’s best local brews. After exploring, dinner is at Salt and Brick. Located close to the water – you are going to love the atmosphere at this local favorite. They will fill you up with a local menu with a fresh take on shared plates and an ever changing menu. To end the night you can grab an ice cream and stroll back to the Delta along the lakefront boardwalk.
SATURDAY – SKI DAY
Early to rise this morning as you are headed up to Big White Ski Resort. You can stop and grab a coffee at one of Kelowna’s favorite coffee shops – Pulp Fiction Coffee House. After you’ve been properly caffeinated, head to higher elevation along HWY33 to Big White Ski Resort. Famous for its “champagne powder”, you’ll want to gear up for a big day of gliding down the mountain. It will be open until April 11, 2021 for downhill skiing and snowboarding this year.
Come back down to the city and enjoy a relaxing dinner at Waterfront Wines Restaurant. They have a fresh local menu and they continuously win gold for Okanagan’s Best Restaurant!
SUNDAY – GOLF AND WINE DAY
Sunday is a great day to sleep in and hit the links! Kelowna has 19 golf courses to choose from and most are open by early April. From beginner to pro – you are going to find a course to fall in love with. My personal favorite is The Okanagan Golf Club – the Bear and the Quail. It has two full 18-hole courses to choose from and is nestled in ponderosa pines and emerald greens. Make sure you save some time to sample local wine at one of Kelowna’s forty wineries. If you don’t mind going for a drive there are over 185 wineries in the Okanagan located between Osoyoos and Lake Country! If that sounds a little overwhelming, don’t worry, there’s an app for that! Wines of BC Explorer app is great for making it simple to find wine and wineries that you are going to love.
These are just some of the reasons that you will love Kelowna in the Spring. I hope you will want to spend more than 72 hours in Kelowna next time you are here. If you just realized how awesome Kelowna is and you want to move here – I can help you find your perfect home! If you already know how awesome Kelowna is and are looking for your next home – I can help with that too!
